Civil engineering deals with development in terms of conceiving, planning, designing, executing, managing, maintaining and rehabilitating infrastructure and building facilities. This is a diversified discipline which deals with all types of human endeavors related to the growth of civilization in shape of buildings, transportation systems, industry, power systems, water resources, environment and geo sciences. Civil Engineers play a vital role to execute the visualization and routinely face multi facets dynamic challenges on projects in various roles as client, consultant, contractor and related fields.


Department of civil engineering is providing excellence to its students in improving competencies for novel techniques and methods to fulfill the needs of sustainable built environment. This diverse platform is established for providing quality engineering education and facilitating its students to acquire the advanced knowledge.


Civil Engineering is a challenging profession which requires knowledge of Mathematics, Applied sciences and Computation skills to solve civil engineering problems. The curriculum is designed to educate the engineering students to nurture their latent capabilities. The advanced engineering theoretical constructs and skills are developed amongst the students utilizing the state of the art lab equipment to learn the engineering profession and utilize it in the development of the society.

Institutes offering programme in Engineering & Technology have contributed much in the construction projects of the country.  The University of Lahore has helped the society in training about 13000 students in different disciplines.

The department, which is the youngest within the Faculty of Engineering has internationally trained faculty, well equipped labs and infrastructure facilities, in line with the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and Higher Education Commission (HEC) requirements. The first batch of students, Insha Allah, will be graduating in June, 2013.
